School Boost Pays Off for Delacombe Kids

The Andrews Labor Government is investing to ensure kids in growing Ballarat have the high-quality school facilities they deserve for many years to come.

Premier Daniel Andrews today visited Delacombe Primary School, where a $6.5 million Labor Government investment has delivered a new competition-grade sports stadium, landscaping, canteen, office and multipurpose room to give Ballarat kids access to the best extracurricular activities.

In 2016, Delacombe had 269 students, which has grown to 486 in 2021, and will rise again to 510 students next year.

The sharp rise in students makes the major upgrade vital to ensure the school is future-proofed for Ballarat’s future growth.

The most recent upgrades complement the Labor Government’s previous investments in the school – with two new permanent classrooms, a new toilet block and purpose-built outdoor learning space delivered as part of a $2 million refurbishment in 2018.

In the past seven years, the Labor Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools across the state and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating 13,500 jobs in construction and through the supply chain.

With 62 schools opening between 2019 and 2024, the Government is well ahead in its work to open 100 new schools by 2026, giving every Victorian child access to a great local school.
