World-Class Facilities Now Open at Mount Rowan SC

The Andrews Labor Government’s multi-million-dollar redevelopment of Mount Rowan Secondary College is now officially open, giving local students access to more world-class learning facilities at their local school.

Minister for Education James Merlino today launched the $3.6 million upgrade, which forms Stage 2 of a significant redevelopment of the campus.

The upgrade features a modern new administration building as well as new fencing, lighting, outdoor furniture, a re-surfaced tennis court, new flag poles and landscaping for the school.

Additional works will be carried out at the school later this year, including extra landscaping, painting and the installation of more outdoor furniture and fencing.

The Labor Government also invested $12 million in Stage 1 of the upgrade to upgrade and modernise the school’s performing arts centre, café and canteen, VCE centre, music classrooms and staff toilets – and to build a new science and humanity building and new synthetic courts.

Since 2014, the Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries.

It is now ahead of schedule in its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026 as part of a school building boom, with 62 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 – and 14 new schools opening this year alone.
