Upgrading Ballarat Specialist School brick by brick

This year, Ballarat families have done an incredible job in supporting students to learn from home. As kids get back into the classroom, we want to make sure they have the fantastic new learning spaces they deserve.

The Andrews Labor Government has built and upgraded more schools than any government in our state’s history, and the Victorian Budget 2020/21 continues that record of investment.

Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison and Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle, today announced Ballarat Specialist School will receive $10 million to upgrade and modernise the school, including providing additional permanent buildings.

The school will also receive $705,000 under the latest round of Planned Maintenance funding for structural and roof repairs.

This investment builds on the $1.18 billion as part of the Building Works Package announced earlier this year, which is creating space for more than 21,000 extra students in Victoria’s education system and creating around 1,600 local construction jobs.

Across Victoria, the Labor Government is delivering 1,460 school upgrades – investing in new classrooms, fixing old buildings and delivering the learning spaces our kids deserve.

The Labor Government’s unprecedented $7.2 billion investment in Victorian school infrastructure is not only creating 7,500 jobs – it is ensuring that ensuring every child has a great local school where they can achieve their best.
