More Runs on the Board for Marty Busch Reserve

Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison today joined Ballarat City Council Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves to officially launch the new scoreboard, the latest instalment of the reserve’s upgrades backed by $8.4 million from Allan Labor Government.

Fans of the Sebastopol Burras Football Netball Club and the Napoleons Sebastopol Cricket Club can keep up with all the latest action thanks to a new electronic LED scoreboard for Oval 2 at Marty Busch Reserve.

Sport is the lifeblood of growing communities like Sebastopol and the new scoreboard provides a great way for fans of the local game to engage with sport.

It adds a whole new dimension to the player and fan experience, providing clubs and future champions the chance to showcase their achievements on the big screen.

There’s also an opportunity for local community groups and businesses to take advantage of the scoreboard to broadcast local initiatives, upcoming events and promotions.

Delivered over multiple stages, the reserve’s ongoing works are providing a home for all things sport and recreation in Sebastopol.

Future works include the development of new community sports pavilion, upgrades to the netball court and lighting, a new five-wicket cricket training facility, criterium cycling track and relocation of the CFA fire shed and Marshall track. The project is expected to be completed by September 2027.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure and programs, to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.

From precinct developments to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide high quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation. They are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Juliana Addison acknowledged Ballarat City Council for its more than $1 million financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project. For more information about infrastructure grant opportunities available through the Victorian Government, visit sport.vic.gov.au.
